Veliki broj muzejskih predmeta je naslije\u0111en iz zbirki Zavoda za za\u0161titu prirode Crne Gore, koji je sakupljan od 1953. do osnivanja Prirodnja\u010dkog muzeja Crne Gore. Kustos paleozoolog Goran \u0106ulafi\u0107 dvije decenije je radio na oboga\u0107ivanju, ne samo paleozoolo\u0161ke, ve\u0107 i ostalih geolo\u0161kih zbirki.
